The Bihar School Examination Board honored top students during Medha Diwas 2024, celebrating their achievements and promoting educational improvements in the state.
The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) held the Medha Diwas 2024 event at Gyan Bhawan in Patna on December 3, 2024. The event featured Education Minister Sunil Kumar as the chief guest, along with BSEB Chairman Anand Kishore and Education Department Secretary Vaidyanath Yadav.
During the event, the education minister and BSEB chairman presented awards to the top students from the Intermediate and Matriculation Annual Examinations of 2024.
In total, 51 students received awards for being in the top 10 of the matriculation exams, while 24 students were recognized for being in the top 5 of the intermediate exams across the commerce, arts, and science divisions.
The BSEB awarded ₹1 lakh to the top student in both the Matriculation and Intermediate exams. The second-place students received ₹75,000, and third-place students got ₹50,000.
Additionally, students who ranked fourth to tenth in the matric exams received ₹10,000 each. For the intermediate exams, fourth and fifth place students received ₹15,000 each. All awardees also received laptops, certificates, and medals.
Ten districts were recognized for their efforts in conducting board examinations. These districts included Bhojpur, East Champaran, Darbhanga, Gaya, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Nalanda, Patna, Purnia, and Vaishali.
Sunil Kumar congratulated the students and encouraged them to continue striving for success while also being responsible citizens. He praised the BSEB for its improvements in education.
Chairman Anand Kishore also congratulated the students, emphasizing their hard work and dedication. He spoke about the ongoing improvements within the BSEB and the positive changes made in the education system.
Kishore mentioned that important exams are now being held at the newly opened Bapu Examination Complex. The board is also offering free coaching in Patna and other districts to help students prepare for competitive exams like JEE and NEET.
During the event, Sujan Pal Singh, CEO of the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Center, delivered the Dr. Rajendra Prasad Memorial Lecture. He praised the students and shared tips for achieving success in life.
The program concluded with cultural performances by students from various Patna schools. For example, students from Bankipur Government Girls High School presented on ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’, while students from Government Girls High School, Gulzarbagh focused on women’s education and empowerment.
