The CBSE has released guidelines for practical exams in 2025, ensuring uniformity and accuracy in assessments for classes 10 and 12. Schools must follow these rules strictly.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has shared important guidelines for the Practical Examination in 2025. You can find the official notification on the CBSE website at cbse.gov.in.
The guidelines aim to create a standard way of conducting practical exams for both Class 10 and Class 12 students. This will help ensure that the procedures are correct and consistent across all schools.
Schools are asked to follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) closely. They must finish the assessments on time and ensure that the correct marks are uploaded to the online portal. This is crucial for maintaining the integrity of the examination process.
Practical exams are set to take place from January 1, 2025, to February 14, 2025. For schools in winter regions, these exams started earlier, on November 5, 2024, and will end on December 5, 2024.
Important Guidelines
Dates for Uploading of Marks
All marks for practical exams, projects, and internal assessments must be uploaded at the same time. This should start on the day of the exam and must be completed by the last date set for each class. The board will not extend these deadlines.
Ensuring Error-Free Uploading
When uploading marks, schools and examiners must double-check to ensure accuracy. Once marks are uploaded, they cannot be changed. Examiners must also verify the maximum marks allowed for each assessment as per CBSE guidelines.
Regular Students
Practical exams for regular students must be conducted based on their eligibility. If any student’s name is missing from the list, schools should contact the regional office immediately.

Private Students
Private students will receive marks for practical exams according to the board’s policies. If they need to retake any assessments, it will follow the same rules as set by the board.
Unfair Means
Students caught trying to cheat or influence examiners will face serious consequences. Examiners must report any such incidents to the regional office with all necessary details.
Board’s Rights to Cancel the Practical Examination
If schools do not follow the board’s instructions, the CBSE can cancel the practical exams. They may also decide to supervise the exams themselves if needed.
Non-Disclosure of Marks
The marks given for practical exams are as important as those for theory exams. Therefore, they cannot be shared with students or anyone else under any circumstances.
