Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is now accepting applications for its PhD programs for the academic year 2024-25. Interested candidates can apply through the official JNU website at jnuee.jnu.ac.in. The application process is open until December 2, 2024.

It is important for candidates to remember that the final date for submitting applications is December 2, 2024. After this date, candidates will have a chance to make corrections to their applications online from December 3 to 4, 2024.

JNU advises all applicants to carefully read the e-prospectus available on their website. This document contains details about eligibility, seat availability, and other important information.

Applicants must also submit separate applications if they are applying through NET (UGC-CSIR), JRF, or GATE, which is only for the School of Engineering. The viva voce invitations will likely be sent by December 12, 2024, with the examination scheduled for December 16 to 12, 2024.

Application Fee:

The application fee for the PhD programs is ₹325. However, candidates applying for the School of Engineering need to pay ₹20,545.

Documents Required for Viva Voce:

During the viva voce examination, candidates must bring several documents, including:

  • Two testimonials, one from a former teacher.
  • A complete list of subjects taken.
  • A copy of a published paper that shows the candidate’s abilities.
  • A brief note on research interests and future goals.
  • A research proposal.
  • A self-attested printout of the NET (UGC/CSIR/GATE) scorecard.
  • A valid JRF certificate for those applying under the JRF category.
  • Foreign candidates must submit a statement of purpose (SoP).
